If you use relative paths, I don't see a problem.

By that, I mean something like

all of my sites are codes as such (/images/foo.jpg), but when there is only
one site allowed in the installed version of IIS on win xp pro, it makes it
difficult to display multiple sites.

i probably should have elaborated on my problem:
i would like to be able to show a selection of my sites to a potential
client on my laptop. i don't want to install the full-blown version of IIS on
the laptop, but do want to be able to display the sites.

i am hoping that there is a simple fix for this that i am overlooking.

thanks for your help and i look forward to any suggestions you have,
grant

Do you mean you dont want to install a server edition of Windows when
saying "don't want to install the full-blown version of IIS", because i
don't recognise that there are multiple versions of IIS that can be
installed on Windows XP.

Anyway, you may want to read this:

http://www.gafvert.info/notes/MultipleWebsitesXP.htm

It explains possible ways how to run multiple websites on XP. Just keep in
mind the limitations of XP, so it will not be a good solution for hosting
the websites, but for showing them when you are at the client it may work
fine.

Another solution is to install VirtualPC on your laptop, and run Windows
Server 2003 in there and host your websites.

Good Luck!

i had already read about IIS Admin, but was hesitant to install it b/c of the
unprofessional style website that offers the application. I will try this
route and hopefully it will work.
thanks for your help,
