overriding smarthost

I'm using a SMART_HOST to send my outgoing email. But for reasons I
don't understand here, there's one domain that my smarthost can't/won't
send email to (or they won't accept email from my smarthost, I don't
know which). But I know I can send directly to that domain. How do I
configure sendmail to send directly to a domain without going through my
smarthost?
Apologies if this is too simple a question for this forum.
I'm running 8.13.4
Thanks.
Michael
