UPNP settings (DSL)

UPNP settings (DSL)

am 03.05.2007 19:32:55 von Bert

I enabled UNPNP on my dsl in order to recieve a download.
Now I cant find the place to disable it.

This is not the UNPNP setting in the windows firewall, it was
somewhere in my DSL modem settings.

How can I get back there to disable UNPLUG AND PRAY (UNPN) ?

Thanks
Bert

Usually, the same way you got in to enable it, log on to the dsl modem
via browser... http://192.168.1.1 or //192.168.1.254

Thanks for trying to help, but the point is I cant find where to "log
onto the dsl modem". It was a long path thru many menus. Could you be
more precise ?
Thanks

First, I'm not sure how or where you disabled it... thus your
quandry....

http://www.tweakxp.com/article37087.aspx is a good page to read to
disable it in XP....
http://www.grc.com/unpnp/unpnp.htm - will help you run a utility that
shuts it off if it's on....

http://www.informit.com/articles/article.asp?p=461084&rl=1 - for
routers. if all else fails, look to the manufacturers website, or log
into it via your browser... if you don't know how, maybe you
shouldn't....

I never have nor will I ever enable a service just to see what it
does... I did once, it cost me the data on a hard drive.... not sure
what or why, but never again....

Thanks, the grc site worked to get me there and turn it off.
BTW I didn't just "enable a service just to see what it
> does" I was down loading Linux from bittorrent and thats what was highly recommended.

I never have ...... I did once ? , tautological inconsistency.....
