2 Servers i 1 domain problems

2 Servers i 1 domain problems

Someone please help me with this.

I have a home network that consists of 1 firewall server, one mail
server and several desktop PCs. The mail server also hosts ftp and www
both of which work fine, as does the mail server. This is a home network
with a single dynamic IP, and I use DynDNS for my dns server. The mail
server is on a private network behind my firewall. I have sendmail 8.12.11
on the mail server and it has been up and running for about 4 years with
minor upgrades now and then. It works well and reliably. The firewall is a
new installation and is running sendmail 8.14.1 and , as far as I can
tell, it also works fine. I have some tools on the firewall that send
system notifications via email. I want these emails to go to my mail
server's root account or to my account on the mail server, either would be
OK. But no matter how I configure the firewall's mail server, the system
notifications will only go to the local users accounts, not to the same
accounts on my mail server. I thought the problem was with the DNS and MX
record, but I can't find a problem there and the folks at DynDNS say I have
it configured correctly. Mail sent from the internet goes through the
firewall to the mail server without any problems at all, so why can't I
get the firewall to send mail to the mail server?

I know I've sort of double posted this, but I'm pulling my hair out over
this and I don't have much left, so if anyone can help, please.

Thanks,
Rick Knight
