Target Table Grayed Out During Import and Match Records Grayed Out

Target Table Grayed Out During Import and Match Records Grayed Out

Two Issues:

1. I need to import a .txt file (OS XP) into FMP 8.5. The table I want
to import the records into is grayed out. Why? What can I do?

2. I want to update an existing table and I cannot get the match and
update option. I have full admin rights. The table already has about
16K records.

Thank you, Thank you!

Perhaps the file is password/protected. Even if it never asks for one the
file might open using a default password, thus protecting some functions.

What kind of file is the import file (tab, csv, etc)
Do you know for sure the file-type is correct and the contents in keeping
with the type.
Does the file actualy contain data
is the fmp/file corrupt
etc

Keep well, ursus

Hi! Thanks for the response.

Well, I open the FileMaker file using the Admin password that is
suppose to allow all rights to all parts of the database. How would I
check the security? When I go to the privlege sets > edit It shows my
privlege set has full access to edit, creat and delete all tables, but
the options to edit the privlege set are grayed out.

The .txt file is an excle file saved as .txt and has data and is in
keeping with the type.

I ran a recover on the file it is fine.

Thanks again.

Did you ever run a recover on this file because you had trouble with it?
Running recover actualy does NOT repair structural damage. It just repairs
the file enough to save the data that is in it. Even if it looks as if the
file runs well after a recover, faults may linger about and will crop up in
due time.

If the information in the file isn't sensitive perhaps yould send me an
empty clone and the text file. I can have a look at them and perhaps advice.
Let me know if you want my e-mail address.

Keep well, Ursus

Thank you! I would like very much to send you a clone and the file.
