Can FileMaker Pro 9 act like AQT or Toad for the PC?

Can FileMaker Pro 9 act like AQT or Toad for the PC?

Does FileMaker Pro 9.0 have an interface where users can enter SQL
statements and see the result sets?

Does FileMaker use standard SQL - or does it use it's own dialect like
MS Access?

Thanks.

No.

Not really. Its really doesn't have a 'command line interface'* at
all. Its strictly a GUI system, where you construct queries
interactively with the graphical user interface. You can also script
queries (and much more) with filemaker's scripting language... but
even that is more point and click than anything.

Your best bet would be to visit a getting started site with some
tutorials, and download the trial version. FM is hard to explain, but
easy to use... provided you aren't too hardwired from working with
SQL.

**FM does support ODBC and JDBC for standard SQL queries, but that is
strictly for allowing 3rd party tools to pull data from FM. You would
never create an ODBC query against a filemaker database from within
filemaker.
