Find object references.. How do I find references to missing objec

Find object references.. How do I find references to missing objec

am 01.02.2008 19:07:05 von rocknroj

My server reports file not found and on some page(s) referring to .ico file..

How can I scan my website to find pages that reference this object.

I tried the various reports and could not find what I was looking for..

Using FP2003, win2000 pro.. Tried searching for text string on the
directory with explorer, no luck.

Thanks in Advance

if it's an .ico, it's usually a favicon. The easiest thing to do is to do a
search on the HTML for the pages within your site with the name of the .ico
file reported by your server's logs.

You are correct, it is favicon! I don't know what that is..

but my question is " how to..'search on the HTML for the pages within your
site with the name of the .ico ' "

I cannot conceivably open all the pages and scan each one..

I also have some other reported missing links so being able to scan my site
for references would be useful..

I used explorer, searched the entire web directory for files containing
'favicon.ico' and got no results ??

With the web open in FP:

Control-F > select "Find in HTML" > select "All pages"

That means the browser are looking for the favicon and can't find it.
They look automatically so they can display it in the address bar or tab.

Check out www.favicon.com for some info on how a favicon works.
