Uninstalling old gcc

Hello everybody,

I am using SuSE Linux 7.3 Professional with the old gcc-2.95.3 still
installed in /usr.
I also compiled and installed gcc-3.2 to /usr/local. Unfortunately, I then
removed both the source and the object-trees, and nothing happened for some
time.
Now I downloaded and compiled sources for gcc-3.3.1. The
$srcdir/INSTALL/finalinstall.html says I should not just install the new
version if a previous version is present, so I am unsure what to do...
How can I uninstall gcc-3.2? Is it sufficient to just decompress the
src-tree, compile it again and then "make uninstall"?
I also thought of uninstalling the old gcc that came with SuSE, building a
package of the object tree (I don't have a clue how to do this, though...)
and install gcc-3.3.1 from package.

On the other hand, I would like to have just one version of gcc present on my
system... So removing the version of gcc installed in /usr/local is what I
would prefer...

Thanks in advance,

kind regards,

Benjamin
