I had for a couple of years a MySql server running on a windows NT
machine 4.0 servicepack 6.Ten it was decideed to change OS at work to
windows 2000 prof. What happen was that the NT machine was disconnect
from the network meaning that it is disconnect from the domain server.
After that I tried to upgrade the MySql server to a version 4.1? it
could connect to data, but after a reboot that option was gone, the i
trried to uninstall the new MySql server and installed and an old one
the 4.0 alpha it starts up but it is not possible to connect via the
client is says that the server is not connected to the localhost 3306
(10061). but if i asked in a command prompt about to start the server I
get the answer that the service is started.
How do i get into my tables were one a them cotains about 18 mill.
records.
I hope that somebody can help me, what I wants to do is to get data
dumped, afterwards I get them loaded into a new MySql installation.
Best regards

-Download mysql administrator from mysql's website
-connect to your server using the "root" account
-go to the system varaibles screen in mysql administrator
-click on security tab
-put a check "use old passwords" hit apply then ok
-stop mysql service (or server) and restart
-try to log in again.....should work.
I had this same issue going from mysql 4.0.18 to 4.1.... using my php
applications and could not log in.
Good Luck!
