FTP - Connection closed by remote host
FTP - Connection closed by remote host

I am running a FTP service on a IIS5.0 box. I am having problems connecting
from my PC (XP Pro w/SP1) to the FTP server.
The following is what I get when I ftp to the server through the command
prompt:
Connected to ftpserver.
Connection closed by remote host.
It makes the connection, sits there, and then the connection is closed. It
never asks me for a username.
If I try from any other PC (XP Pro w/SP1), I can connect to the FTP server
and up/download files.
Both PCs are on the same network and I am not using IP filtering. The FTP
logs on
the IIS server show nothing, only when I make a successful login.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated?

Hello,
Do you have any firewall on the client machines that could be blocking the
communication?
It does not seem to be a problem with the FTP server, but more of a problem
with the FTP client.

No firewall on the client machines. Yep, it does sound like a problem with
the client, only I wish I had the answer as to why.

Try using IP filtering, by adding an address that you know isn't going to
try to connect to you (like 127.127.127.127).
