Can"t execute a GRANT in order to connect from outside

Can"t execute a GRANT in order to connect from outside

Hello,

First time I use a Windows MySQL Server :

I can't connect from outside and locally, I can't execute a GRANT
statment in order to get a user who has this right. I get a 1064 error
when I'm trying to execute :

GRANT ALL ON *.* TO me IDENTIFIED BY 'password'.

Any idea ?

Thanks !

Stephane

Here is my conf file :

You forgot to specify the hostname. You need to specify a hostname or
else MySQL will default to 'localhost' which allows ONLY connections
from the local machine. Your query should look something like:

GRANT ALL ON *.* to user_name@'%' IDENTIFIED BY 'password';

The % tells MySQL to allow connections from everything that is not
localhost. Cheers.
