RAM

Hi,

I have at work for desktop a 1.7 GHz Celeron, with a 256 MB dimm at 333=
=20
MHz in one slot.

I have two free slots.

Well, it happens the i have two dimms of 64 MB each at 100 MHz.

If i add them to the machine, (making a total of 384 MB) will i gain or=
=20
loose in the overall performance (because of the bus speed difference?)

Thank you.

Warm Regards.

Hi,

Your RAM memory then It will work at 100 Mhz, not at 333 Mhz ? (I dont
know any dimm at this speed...dont you mean 133?)...

I dont think that you will get so much improvement with that increase
of memory...I would recommend you to get either modules of 100 Mhz or
133 Mhz...also of the same size...three modules of 64, 128 or 256
Mb...In the second-hand market is not that difficult to get one (try at
ebay)...

Hope this helps

Miguel

Dear Mario:

If your system is using much 'swap',
it could be a performance increase.

If your system is not using/needing memory above 256MB,
it could be a performance decrease.
