search page from a disk based web

The web I use is disk based, and even though the server
is a sharepoint server with frontpage 2002 server
extensions and index service turned on, I cannot use the
search page or search component to search my web. I saw
one article that said it can't be done on a disk bases
web, but only a published web. Is that so? It is simply
the default web site of my iis server.

Server side components, such as the FrontPage search, will only work on a
server based web. You must access the web using http://webname/ , and not
as a file location such as c:/path/pagename.
You would get a faster response if you posted to the correct newsgroups -
this group is for UNIX server extensions, not Windows.
