"DESC <table_name>" error with 5.0.3 server

"DESC <table_name>" error with 5.0.3 server

am 24.01.2005 19:23:55 von vanveen

i've just installed MySQL 5.0.2-alpha-nt server on Windows XP as a service.
Everytime i send a "DESC " query with the mysql client i
got no response and
some seconds after i got a message error:

"ERROR 2013 (HY000): Lost connection to MySQL server during query"

Indeed, the server is not running and i have to restart it again.
Anyone know why this happen?

Your error is the MySQL bug #6950, its fixed in 5.0.3.
So, if you use the CVS or compile the new version (I really don't know
if it already has a binary package, if it does, better for you), the
error will go away.

Hope taht helps,

This is a known issue on 5.0.2 on Windows when using DESC or SHOW it
will crash the server. Downgrade to 5.0.1 until 5.0.3 is released.
