Malformed Packet

Malformed Packet

Dear friends,
I have two issues in using MySQL in Win platform

1. I am using MySQL server 4.1.7 on Windows 2000
server, MyODBC 3.5.10 and Visual Basic as front end
application
If once I get the error "-2147467259 [MySQL][ODBC 3.51
Driver][mysqld-4.1.7-nt]Malformed packet" error, it is
not allowing me to do database activity until I
restart the database server. It happened quite
frequently for some time. What could be the problem?

2. After inserting a new record in a table having
auto-increment field I will run the query as "SELECT
id FROM WHERE id IS NULL" we will be getting
the latest autoincremented field number right, but in
the above mentioned server it is not returning any
value.
If anybody has solution for this. Please let me know
Thanking you in advance
yours
Karthikeyan R

This is unlikely to help you, but I have had the same "Malformed packet"
error (MySQL 4.1 on Windows XP, using C#/ODBC). In my case, this happens
very rarely, but when it does I have also found that nothing helps except
restarting the MySQL server. I e-mailed this list about it but saw no reply.
