Where could it be got and could it be recommended?

5.0.3 is not packaged as an alpha release, and hence it is ever
changing.
You need to get bitkeeper and download the latest source code and then
create your own VC++ build project using the given scripts on a Linux
machine. Instructions are at
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql/en/windows-bitkeeper-build.ht ml
Mysql also provides a nightly packaging of the source as well as the
VC++ build project for download. But I can't find the page I downloaded
from anymore (D'oh). If someone knows the location, please let me know
as well so I can bookmark it.
I had to do a couple of hacks on VC++ to make the project to actually
build. If you have the time, it's worth the exercise. I would not
recommend it for creating an executable that you will eventually use
though.
