Rookie needs helps with FP 2002 extensions on Linux Server

Rookie needs helps with FP 2002 extensions on Linux Server

am 18.02.2005 11:01:04 von Nocturne

This is my first website, but it's important and I need it to work soon. I'm
using Windows XP with FrontPage 2002 locally. I just switched to a new server
because I needed the Frontpage extensions and features like search and
feedback forms. My new server runs Linux, and after many conversations with
them I am pretty sure they do have the FrontPage extensions installed. But
everytime I publish with Frontpage, I get the error message to the effect of
"The server you are publishing to does not have the FrontPage Server
Extensions installed," and when I try to use features which require them like
search I get a similar error. I'm pretty sure the extensions are installed --
using the MS Frontpage menu, I went through the tools menu to my server
administration page and checked "health," and there were no problems listed.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the FrontPage Extensions on the server
repeatedly (waiting increasingly longer intervals each time to make sure the
changes had time to take affect), and tried uploading the web site over and
over again on the advice of my server support folks. They swear there's no
problem on their end, and I'm totally lost as to what to try next. Please
forgive me if this is a dumb problem, but I couldn't find it anywhere here,
and I really do need help if someone knows what's going on. Thank you.

Sorry but I am repeatedly having the same problem with one
provider. I now can not even access the site at all. They
tell me all is well on their end. I have even asked
clients to attempt to access this site and they can not
either. SO where do I find the rest of this answer?

Do you have valid username/password credentials?
What happens if you try to open the web at that site from the FP client?
Do you have telnet or ssh access to the server?
