Installed before removal - big oops
Installed before removal - big oops
am 24.02.2005 22:22:58 von Mark Ogles
I am running win2000 and went to install MySQL 4.1.10. I started by
uninstalling MySQL 4.0.20 however, I did not stop the service first!
Well, several blunders later, it would seem, I now get the following
error: "error 1058: The service cannot be started because it is disabled
or because it has no enabled devices associated with it." I'm sure this
supposed to tell me something, but what I don't know. Will someone help
please.

Service is starting somewhere in the windows registry. Using Regedit.exe
look for keys "Run", "RunService" or similar and delete the key manualy
where the value "mysqld*.exe" is writed.

Hi Mark,
For deleting service manually you can find in this keys
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services and you can
delete all key start with MySQL (if you have not create the service
using 4.1.10) or you can view the value first and delete all key where
the imagepath value refer to your old mysql
Hope this can help you
Best Regards,
Christian
