embedded httpd

can httpd used in an embedded system?
how much can i small the size of binary files?
is there any way to link it statically?

I've been able to compile, and run a linux system with apache in only
12MB. I've also known about other person that did it on 8MB.

If you try harder, you can get something similar :)

There is the solution of khttpd, which is an apache server embedded into
the linux kernel. You should look into that if you have very little ram.
