Publishing Error
am 26.02.2005 06:07:02 von Jody
I keep getting the following error when I try to publish my site. Any
suggestions?
"Server error: The folder "/? is marked executiable. You are not allowed to
put files into an executiable folder on this server?

You must contact your host to change the settings on the server extensions.

Hi Tom,
I am the host. I have a remote dedicated Windows 2003 Server running IIS 6
and FPSE 2002. I am having issues with figuring out what is wrong in the
extensions. I tired posting another article but no response as of yet. (see
Submit Form Error 2/25).
What do you think I should be looking at? I have combed through the
permissions in IIS and the file system. The folders in the C:\Inepub folder
are not set o executable. Other than that they have full rights.
As for the other problem it may or may not be related but that post has all
the information.
Any and all help with this will be extremely appreciative. My dedicated
server host is not being very helpful with either.

I'm not sitting in from of the computer that has my server extensions. But
there is a setting somewhere that says something to the effect: allow
authors to upload executables. (it is off by default as a security
measure).
You need to open up the extensions administrator to find it.
Sorry I can't be more specific, but, as I said, I'm not where I can get to
that box today.

Your suggestion did in fact work to eliminate my error message. I didn't
realize that my web did contain an .exe file and the error was correctly
reporting the issues. here is how I resolved it:
1. Load fpadmin.htm
2. Go to the 'Administration' link for the specific domain.
3. Select "Change configuration settings" and scroll to bottom of the page.
4. Enable the check box for "Allow authors to upload executables" and click
'Submit'
