Andrew,

I was successful using the Fink open source OS X package manager. Check it
out at http://fink.sourceforge.net/.

You'll have to back out your MySQL install and let Fink install it or teach
yourself (I wouldn't know how.) to let Fink know where it is. I uninstalled
MySQL, then installed the Apple Developer Tools (free with OS X or on
Apple.com and required for Fink). I then used Fink to install DBI and
DBD-MySQL from Fink's own source distributions. (Allow half a day for the
install/compile--all automated--to run.) Fink determines all the
dependencies and installs all the needed packages, sometimes giving you a
choice of which one. One, in particular, the X11 package needs to be chosen,
based on which version, if any, is already on your machine. That decision is
well documented on the Fink site. Lastly, you may need to tell your scripts
where to look for DBI (see my previous post), since Fink puts everything
installs into a new /sw directory at the root level.

Good luck! My number and e-mail are at the end of this message. Feel free to
follow up.

Best,

Marc

Subject: DBD-mysql install problem

I'm trying to install DBD::mysql v. 2.1017 on OSX v. 10.1.5.

make ends with:

chmod 755 blib/arch/auto/DBD/mysql/mysql.bundle
chmod: blib/arch/auto/DBD/mysql/mysql.bundle: No such file or directory
make: *** [blib/arch/auto/DBD/mysql/mysql.bundle] Error 1

I looked in that directory and sure enough it's not there :-)

Any idea why this file is not being created?

Have others successfully installed DBD::mysql on OSX?

Help???

Andrew
