MySQL server dies periodically

MySQL server dies periodically

am 02.03.2005 21:13:35 von Corey Tisdale

I am running MySQL version 4.0.18-nt on win2k with 2 xenon processors
and a gig of ram. I hardly ever have processor or memory issues, but I
have noticed that the server has just died several times lately. This
happens typically when a good number of queries are being issued, but
not enough to really even slow down the response tim eof the server
(maybe 30 a second or so queries). The problem is that there is nothing
in the error logs and I don't know how to track down what is going on.
Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, how did you solve it?

Thanks
Corey

We experienced random crashes on our MySQL server. We tracked
this down to being related to the fulltext search feature.

We contacted MySQL support and they found a bug which caused the
server to crash:
http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=3D8522=20

They produced a patch which helped us get rid of the problem,
which will be incorporated into the next release of MySQL.

I don't know if you use freetext search in your application,
but if you do, it might be the same problem.

Regards,
Anders Skar

I suggest you upgrade to the latest stable release, this will avoid
many bugs and you'll be more confortable because you know all
patches/bug fixes are installed so far (I upgrade mine everytime a new
stable comes out).

Best regards,
