Does anyone know if there's anything similar that works in Linux?
I've got loads of documents on my machine and I'd like to search them
for text without having to wait ages for find and grep to scan through
each directory.
I know about ht://Dig, but that requires a webserver installing,
doesn't it? I'd rather not have to install the whole of Apache just to
search and index my documents.

Yep, that lets me find files. Doesn't let me find text inside them though...

Hi,
The Beagle project was aiming at something like this - including
searching files, mails, etc.
I am not sure whether they have made any releases or not.
Please Google to find out.
Anindya.
