Non-standard location of mysql.sock

I'm trying to install bugzilla on a linux system I don't administer.
I've got everything working except that DBI or DBD::mysql doesn't know to
use the mysql.sock in my home directory. Is there anyway I can redirect
to this location?

perldoc DBD::mysql

then look for "socket" in the docs. It's the second match on my copy.
