favicon.ico errors
am 25.03.2005 02:39:13 von Support
At first the favicon errors seemed to be from conflicts
between different versions of Front Page. Like, 2000, and
2003. Since the web sites use themes, changing themes
within sub-webs was culprit. We were able to rectify the
problem and ran error free.
However, using a known web site that had been performing
without error, favicon files started being outputted to
the error report at an alarming rate. Nothing had been
modified in the web, theme or otherwise. The next step was
to remap and publish that web again to test whether or not
the FP extensions had some how been corrupted as
extentions could be installed to the new folder. The
system is Unix running Apache. I assume the newer
versions. Only same problem and the favicon error files
continued. What could be going on?
Thank you.

What errors?
If the error is a 404 then this will occur if you do not have a
favicon and whenever an IE user places your site in their favourites
or a Mozilla/FireFox//Netscape6+ user browses the site.

Really, what you're saying is that favicon stands for an
icon, that if provided would appear instead of the IE
logo, or that it would be displayed accordingly.
I was misinformed by our site adm. believing at first
favicon was a function of fp extensions. Perhaps so, but
it is also something if it is an icon that I have wanted
to use ever since channels were introduced.
I'll have to consult the knowledge base to understand my
questions further. Thank you!

FP and the FP server extensions have nothing to do with the favicon...
