M Davis and Company, Inc.

http://www.mdavisco.com

These bastards conduct telephone surveys to various households. I was
called and told them I didn't wish to participate in the survey. I
explained to them why I didn't want to, even though "NO" should've been
enough.

They wouldn't take "NO" for an answer.

These bastards continue to call me every damn day. I have asked to be
put on their Do-Not-Call list and they still call. If you look at the
website this is their company definition:

M. Davis and Company, Inc., is a marketing research and consulting
firm that provides complete services from project conception through
implementation. We aim to ensure that our clients receive a high return
on information (ROInfo)=99, by employing our unique perspective and
market insights. We help clients make the most of their opportunities
and implement solutions based on the information we provide.

They ensure their client receive information from people who gave into
their incessant TELEPHONE SPAM.

I called the local SBC representative and I had pretty much two
options:

1) Register on the Do-Not-Call registry at
https://www.donotcall.gov/default.aspx and wait 31 days because in 31
days they should get the official message.

or

2) Pay 10 bucks more a month for a special kind of call block where
everybody that calls me has to put in some secret numerical code for
the call to go through. NOTE: Call Block only works for local calls
(how stupid is this?)

I didn't feel like telling everybody I know that now, because of some
asshat telephone spammers that they now have to be inconvenienced by
entering a code whenever they called me. So, my only choice is the Do
Not Call Registry.

Here is to day 1 of 31 until the dumbass telemarketers at M Davis and
Company quit calling me even though I've asked them repeatedly to not
call me.

Here is the kicker though. This was also on their website:

M. Davis and Company, Inc. was recently re-awarded a contract by the
US. Department of Transportation to continue administering the Omnibus
Household Survey. This multi-year engagement involves the bi-monthly
administration of over 1,000 telephone surveys to randomly selected
households to gather information regarding commuting habits and
awareness of various Federal safety initiatives. M. Davis and Company
has been successful in raising the Omnibus Household Survey
participation rate from less than 40% prior to July 2001 to over 50%
for December 2002.

So, we have one government agency (DoT) giving a contract to telephone
spammers and another government agency (donotcall.gov) for helping
consumers avoid telephone spammers.

Does anybody know any other way to keep these guys from calling me at
home when I'm trying to get some bloody rest? Donotcall.gov so far is
my only option.

If it really becomes a hassle, you can get your phone company to put a trace
on your line. Usually, they require a police report, and you'll have to
insist that that be done, since most police depts don't consider constant
calls like this harassment. It does work, however.
