post.office NT problems with spammers

post.office NT problems with spammers

Hi, I've been running post.office NT smtp/pop software since 1995. The
company that wrote this software stopped making and supporting it somewhere
around 1999. The problem is that the open relay config sucks and spammers
can easily take advantage of this software. I've been operating in the "I
hope they dont find me" mode now for years. Every now and then someone
discovers it and I have to do some IP blocking.

Obviously the best way to solve this problem is to replace the software, but
I simply have too many user accounts and user address books in the web based
client to migrate. I'm wondering if there is a front end I can run on the
NT box to do more restrictive filtering.

Thanks for any ideas.

I'm not speaking from specific experience with Post.Office, but MAPS usually
have good advice on securing open relays. You may therefore want to check
out .
