[Pimmy] Geminisoft Pimmy 4.0 beta 2a - mail/news/rss

Hello everybody.

We have published the second beta of Pimmy 4.0, available in English and
Italian on our web site www.geminisoft.com.

This beta test version may be installed over beta 1 and will expire on May
31, 2005, when a new beta will be available. By the way you can go back to
Pimmy 3.5 in any moment without losing your settings. We recommend you
should make periodic copy of configuration files, as usual.

We suggest people who install Pimmy 4.0 for the first time that they should
carefully read chapter "What's new" of manual, available online too, and in
particular the "Migrating from Pimmy 3.5" paragraph.

Non-English speaking users may download this beta and configure Pimmy to
use two language files, so that Pimmy will only use English for new menus
and sentences. Please refer to the manual for details.

Moreover we remind everyone that Pimmy 4.0 will be a commercial product and
that the price will be around 25 US$.

These are the main new features of this release compared to beta 1.

- Improved accessibility for visually impared people with the adoption of a
bigger font when enabled, high contrast mode and some sound alerts.
- Full revision of character encoding (charset) management either in
displaying and editing with warnings and suggestions.
- Newsgroup management using Messge-ID with the possibility of changing
newsgroup provider without downloading all messages.
- New commands to retrieve a newsgroup message from the server using
Message-ID, to retrieve replies, the full thread, etc.
- Followup-To management.
- Simultaneous connections to newsgroup server may be limited.
- New commands to easily create a RSS channel or a newsgroup from the
message text.
- Cache improvements with a new parameter to indicate the maximum number of
messages to keep.
- Improved commands to check / download messages (even partially) in
particular after the creation of a new mailbox or newsgroup.
- Improved HTML messages and RSS channels decoding.
