It might/will help if you would explain *why* do you need to use
another port (than 110). There are probably alternative solutions, but
my/our crystal ball(s) are somewhat broken. Not specifying a (client) OS
and posting from Google Groups doesn't help either. See [1] for what my
crystal ball suggested.

The most immediate alternative to pop3 (110) is pop3s (995), which is an
SSL/TLS secured channel. Many mail services and all good clients support
access via pop3s.

FastMail.FM seems to offer this. I haven't used their "POP Links"
feature, but I looked at the setup screen on my Enhanced account
and it lets you specify a port. It seems that this is available
to all users, even Guest/Gratis accounts. Some details are here:
