Where is my email going???
Where is my email going???
am 23.04.2005 05:25:13 von amerar
Hi All,
I am not sure if this is the right group for this, but I think many
people know about this topic.
I run my own mail server. Everything has worked great for several
years. Today however, a problem started and I do not know how to find
the root cause.
Certain people cannot send me email. I can receive email from most
people, but certain people send me an email, I never receive it and
they never receive the bounce back......
So, from my own Yahoo account I can send email to my server and I
receive it. My friend sends me email from his Yahoo account and I
never get it, and he never gets a bounce back. This just started
today.
Is there a way for me to see where his Yahoo email is going, or how it
is getting lost???
Thanks,
Arthur

Arthur,
You did not gave us enough information about the particular
configuration of your mailserver.
Many smaller installations - even when they run their own server -
fetch mail using pop3 form a provider. Your provider could filter
e-mails before they arrive at your palce etc. etc.
I ASUME you have not installed anti-spam software lately have you? It
could also be that your partners outbound mail get's filtered etc.
etc.
So, more information about your particular setup would help.
Markus

This is a MIME GnuPG-signed message. If you see this text, it means that
your E-mail or Usenet software does not support MIME signed messages.

If you allegedly run your own mail server, then you simply need to look at
your server logs to determine if Yahoo's mail servers ever contacted yours.
If not, mail is lost within Yahoo and there's nothing that you can do about
it. If you see your mail server receiving mail from Yahoo, then you will
know exactly what happened to it. Problem solved.
