MySQL throwing errors after upgrade to RedHat 9.0

MySQL throwing errors after upgrade to RedHat 9.0

am 21.04.2003 06:01:08 von grenoml

I upgraded from RedHat Linux 8.0 to 9.0 and now MySQL is throwing out
lines like this:
Incorrectly built binary which accesses errno, h_errno or _res
directly. Needs to be fixed.

Reading the redhat-list it says that applications doing this are
incorrectly compiled and need to have #include added to their
files. Have you addressed this yet? Does this mean that we have to
reinstall MySQL?

Thanks,
Gerry Reno

Upgrade MySQL to 4.0.12 which is current stable release.

Use RPMs instead of binary.

I was afraid you were going to say that. Ok, I'll try upgrading.
Apparently this is due to RedHat 9.0 now fully supporting Posix threads
and being a little more strict Well, this is something everyone has
been wanting for a long time so we can't complain.

Hi,

Why? 4.0.8 is Beta while 4.0.12 is stable release. My advice to upgrade is mostly
because of your release is old and there is long list of chances since then.

This is not exactly true. RedHat 9 (there is no .0) supports NPTL which is new
Posix thread library. So far this is only vendor who dared to use it.

I'm working with RedHat 9 since it was released and so far didn't have any
problems so when I suggest you upgrading MySQL to 4.0.12 there is one more reason:
I know it works under RedHat 9

Best regards

Alexander,
Thanks for the clarification and glad to hear that you have used
4.0.12 without problem on Redhat 9. Makes me more confident about
upgrading.
And you are right on release name, no .0. cat /etc/redhat-release:
Red Hat Linux release 9 (Shrike).
Just used to 8.0: cat /etc/redhat-release:
Red Hat Linux release 8.0 (Psyche)

thx,
Gerry Reno
