Not mysqld in /libexec in mysql-standard-4.0.13-pc-linux-i686

Hi.

I installed mysql-4.0.13 in linux using
mysql-standard-4.0.13-pc-linux-i686.tar.gz downloaded from www.mysql.com.

I cp mysql.server from support-files directory to /etc/init.d/ and when I
execute /etc/init.d/mysql start I get this error:

The file /usr/local/mysql/libexec/mysqld doesn't exist or is not executable
Please do a cd to the mysql installation directory and restart
this script from there as follows:
../bin/mysqld_safe.

The mysql-standard-4.0.13-pc-linux-i686.tar.gz doesn't have a libexec
directory.
