seeing corruption on RH9/reiserfs/4.1.0a

seeing corruption on RH9/reiserfs/4.1.0a

am 13.06.2003 00:37:03 von joshall

I recently installed the 4.1.0a release via RPMs onto my
RH9 system and began reloading my email database onto it.

Even using the --flush option I was consistently seeing
index corruption in my tables, starting with the (to
paraphrase) "key table not found" message. I had one
table crash and many non-crash malfunctions, and they
were not infrequent, even after multiple complete
table repairs. I was hoping to use reiserfs beneath
MySQL ... probably a waste of time but ... anyway I was
doing two slightly unusual things:

1) The database was stored on reiserfs
2) I symlinked the DB directory
(ln -s /my/reiserfs/dir /var/lib/mysql/my_db)

Are either of these known to cause problems?

I am rebuilding everything on ext3 now and I see no problems
so far.

I am running on mirrored disks.

Hi!

No, this should have nothing to do with Reiser FS.

Most of us, and many of our users are using Reiser FS without any
problems.

This is more likely some disk problem.

If you do not have problems on ext3, then it i snot even our bug.
