bounced mail, unencoding attachments, qmail help

I'm not sure if this is the correct bb but couldn't find a qmail bb on
google.

I have a program that was supposed to send out email. The email
address got messed up and the mail never got delivered. The email
contains attachments in base64 encoding. I get all the bounced emails
from the mail directory. I am trying to find a way to parse those email
docs and either resend them after tweeking the email address in the To:
field or parse them and send new files.

I can send the email when I trim the bouced headers and do
/path/to/qmail-inject < email.file but the attachments make openoffice
freeze. any help would be appreciated.
