filled up so quickly it is taking me so long ( and expensive in terms
of my time ) trying to delete them all.

Too little information.
What OS are you using? Which e-mail client? What kind of messages are
these, i.e. mostly spam and viruses or legit mail? Do you use
spam-filtering (if so, which)? Do you use virus-checking software (if
so, which)? Etc.
$ CRYSTALL-BALL MODE ON
Have a look at MailWasher: .

I am using Yahoo's web based mail, and the mails are legitimate, all
coming from yahoo groups I am in. I do understand I should go back to
the yahoo groups I am subscribed into however the problem is I am
denied gruop access by systems administrators and thus have no way of
editing my group preferences.
Nevertheless, many thanks.

Which operating system are you using? Are you using a normal e-mail
client ('mailer') besides Yahoo's web based mail? If so, which one?
