Email recovery utility?

Hello All.
I often have the need to recover e-mail from a harddrive or backup
and haven't found anything that easily converts/reads from a
file-system versus a currently installed e-mail client. In other
words, I'm having a heckuva time getting archived e-mails (just Outlook
or Netscape/Mozilla files burned to disc) back into an e-mail client on
a freshly rebuilt machine. I've found such a tool for address book
recovery/conversion (Address Magic from Connected Software ...
www.connectedsw.com), but haven't found it's equal for e-mail
messages/attachments.
Any resources/ideas/utilities anyone can recommend?
TIA.
Ciao,
-Jei.

If you don't mind using a shareware solution, Aid4Mail may be the solution
you're looking for. It can read mail files from any location and offers
unique features for archiving messages. You'll find more information about
Aid4Mail and a download link on the following Web site:

Outlook should not be a problem, assuming you mean Outlook, not
Outlook Express, and that you have your archives in .pst files, not in a
..ost one (a new Outlook installation can not use an old .ost (offline)
file).
Netscape/Mozilla also should not be a problem. Just put the files
which contain the messages into the directory where Netscape/Mozilla
expects them and Netscape/Mozilla will automatically build new index
files.
