MDA with single message store
am 10.06.2005 01:26:49 von Obi-WanOur company is really fed up with Oracle Collaborator, and we're looking
at different options for a new email system. Being a recent hire and
an old-school Unix/open-source guy, I'd like to push them toward that
sort of solution. However, one if the big selling points for Collab Suite
is that it provides a single message store, where one message sent to all
2500 users gets stored on disk only once (the vast majority of our email
fits this category). I've been unable to find any open source Unix
(Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4) MDA's that provide this functionality.
Are there some that I'm just overlooking, or is there a good technical
reason that this hasn't been implemented? I haven't put a great deal
of thought into it, but it seems that it should just be a matter of
using a maildir storage with hard links to share message files. This
would allow the use of any number of maildir-aware IMAP servers.
Any suggestions?
