Cobalt email server delivering to wrong user address

Cobalt email server delivering to wrong user address

am 16.06.2005 17:56:52 von Hillel

Hello,

We are still using a Cobalt Raq3 server for our company email.
I have a strange problem where some of my email - all spam that
looks legitimate enought to make it through the spam filters -
is being copied to another user's mailbox. I am set up as an
administrator of the email site, and the other user is not.

Thanks.

Just an update. It looks like what might be happening is that the
messages are being sent with my address in the "TO" field and one or
two other users as "BCC". Is there any way to check the headers of a
received message to see if there was a "BCC" header?

This is a MIME GnuPG-signed message. If you see this text, it means that
your E-mail or Usenet software does not support MIME signed messages.

No. Bcc headers are removed at the time the message is sent.

Is there at least a way to check from the server that the message was
sent in a "BCC" manner? Even thought the header is removed, there
still has to be something so that the server delivers the message to
someone other than the address listed in the "TO" header. I just
want to make sure that the server is not copying my email to other
users.

Correct. However, there is no universal magical procedure that obtains this
information from every mail server that exists for every operating system in
the world.

You will have to check the documentation for your specific mail server to
determine where and how this information gets logged.
