odd problem when sending an SQL

Hi,
I have a database on a webserver. I can test the
connection fine throught the admin tools on the
control panel. VB allowed me to connect aswell, but
when i send a query, VB stops responding, and
everything has to be restarted. Anybody got any
ideas? when i used the mysql control center to access
the database, it crashes aswell....seems strange, cos
everything used to work fine.....

I don't know about everyone else but I could use some additional
information regarding your setup. Are the web server and the MySQL server
on the same machine? Do you have OS-level access to both the Web and MySQL
servers? When you say "VB" are you referring to compiled VB programming
running on your machine, on the web server, on the database server, or
somewhere else - OR - do you mean some piece of VBScript you are executing
"somewhere" (please tell us where)?

Which "control panel" are you using? When you say "crash", what error
messages are you getting? Have you checked the server logs (both Web and
MySQL)? What errors did they show during the "crash"?

Could it be that it is just taking a long time to process your query and
you are not waiting long enough?

I would ask the same questions, but I'll stick with Shawn (and use his
email as template when I need to tell someone I need more info in
order to help *lol*).

In addition, OS (9x, xp, me) and type of installation would help (I
sincerely dislike MySQL Setup Wizard).
