[Pimmy] Geminisoft Pimmy 4.0 beta 3a - mail/news/rss

Hello everybody.

We have published the third beta of Pimmy 4.0, available in English and
Italian on our web site www.geminisoft.com.

This beta test version may be installed over beta 2 and will expire on
September 30, 2005, when a new beta will be available. By the way you can
go back to Pimmy 3.5 in any moment without losing your settings. We
recommend you should make periodic copy of configuration files, as usual.

We suggest people who install Pimmy 4.0 for the first time that they should
carefully read chapter "What's new" of manual, available online too, and in
particular the "Migrating from Pimmy 3.5" paragraph.

Non-English speaking users may download this beta and configure Pimmy to
use two language files, so that Pimmy will only use English for new menus
and sentences. Please refer to the manual for details.

Moreover we remind everyone that Pimmy 4.0 will be a commercial product and
that the price will be around 20 euro (25 US$).

These are the main new features of this release compared to beta 2.

- Full cache of messages for an optimal management of online and offline
work in particular for newsgroups and rss channels. The cache may be
configured to keep messages after the first preview, automatically at
each checking or using filters.
- Message labels which can be applied manually or using filter, to display
messages in the list with a different color.
- ROT13 encoding / decoding to hide in a simple way (but not secure) a
part of text (the end of a movie for instance).
- Minimal cache of messages to keep only the status (read / unread) of
messages without wasting space on disk.
- Quick command F2 to rename foldersand the other objects.
