why does email forwarding mean no email sending?
why does email forwarding mean no email sending?

I just signed up for webhosting from godaddy.com and I was getting into
the email. I wanted to automatically send all my email to another
account, and not keep the messages on the godaddy web hosting. If you
do the email forwarding it will not let you send email from this email
address because it is set just for forwarding. Can anyone tell me why
this is, and if there is any way around it?
Thank you,
Erick

godaddy.com probably can, if you ask them.

I do not think that they can, or the technical support people that I
keep getting do not know how. I have called twice and both said that
it was impossible. You do think that it is possible though? I really
do not have a clue, I thought maybe it was just something inherent to
doing email transfers.

I'm sure that they have far more knowledge of what mail restrictions they
have in place.

*What* won't let you send email? Email forwarding and email sending
are completely different services. Godaddy provides free email
forwarding with every domain registered through them, but email sending
isn't part of that free forwarding service.

To elaborate on what Steve said, you need to find a service
provider that will let you use their *outgoing SMTP server* to
send mail from yourdomain.com. This is a common problem nowadays
and there are many providers that offer this. If neither GoDaddy
nor your Internet *Access* Provider offer this, there are many
providers on my IMAP Service Providers page, which is here:
that offer this. This page includes a Terminology section that
includes the terms "SMTP" and "SMTP path," which will hopefully
help you to understand some of the issues.
Hope this helps,
Nancy

I guess that godaddy.com will not let me do what I would like. They do
however let you host your email at another domain, which I could pick a
domain which would let me do what I need.
Thanks to everyone that replied

I'm not sure what you're talking about. Godaddy will handle your
email any way you want, but you'll have to pay extra for more than just
the forwarding service.
