mysqld ended right on start up

mysqld ended right on start up

am 18.07.2003 07:29:37 von Mark Giles

Hi there,

I'm using Mac OS 10.2.6 on a G4 400. I downloaded and installed Mac OS
X Package Installer Standard 4.0.13.
When I start the daemon I get mysqld ended right away. I've searched
through the manual and I can't find why this would happen. At this
point all test commands, changing password and so on don't work. I was
following the set-up instructions on Macservers.org
http://www.macservers.org/feature-1.html

[Mark-Giless-Computer:/usr/local/mysql] markgiles% sudo
../bin/mysqld_safe &
[1] 651
[Mark-Giless-Computer:/usr/local/mysql] markgiles% Starting mysqld
daemon with databases from /usr/local/mysql/data
030718 00:28:10 mysqld ended

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mark

Did you get any messages in the installer log during the installation? If
you click on the MySQL PKG to start the installer, choose "File->Show Log"
to see what is happening. After a succesful installation, mysqld should be
up and running.

Please take a look at the error log in
/usr/local/mysql/data/.err - it will tell you what went wrong.
Without this information it's not possible to tell why mysqld did not
start up - I assume a permission problem.

Sorry, my mistake - mysqld will _not_ be started automatically after the
installation. You should follow the instructions in the Readme.txt file to
start up MySQL.
