Simple email forwarding w/ GoDaddy doesn"t work; but WHY?
am 09.08.2005 21:48:51 von woodcock
I have a domain name parked and locked at GoDaddy and I have the domain
forwarded to another .com domain controlled by somebody else.
I would have thought that simple domain forwarding would have caused
*@some-domain.biz to be forwarded to *@some-domain.com, too, but
evidently not. Here is an example of the bounce:
Permanent Failure:

GoDaddy support is COMPLETELY USELESS and have not even been able to
understand the problem, let alone posit a solution. Is there anybody
here that can help?

Looks like your "some-domain.biz" domain isn't even registered.

No, unfortunately all our psychics are out to lunch right now, and nobody
knows how to operate the magical mind ray-beam machine in order to extract
the relevant details out of your head.
If, instead of providing real data, you choose to replace the actual domains
(and maybe IP addresses) with completely made-up ones, for some completely
pointless reason, the only thing you can expect to receive in response is a
made-up answer, instead of a real one.

I think you're simply wrong about that. You have to set up the email
forwarding before any email forwarding takes place. Domain forwarding
is just different.

It could be that the MX records for some-domain.biz are set up, but
Godaddy hasn't configured those MX mailservers for the domain. Maybe
that configuration doesn't happen until you actually create an email
address in the domain. It could be that Godaddy just doesn't want any
email from 204.127.202.55 (sccrmhc11.comcast.net), but I would expect
to see a different error message in that case.
