Server error: write error on file...
Server error: write error on file...
am 10.09.2005 03:27:02 von MaggieS
Hi, I made some changes to my Frontpage 2002 site (I'm on Office XP). It uses
Shared Borders (top.htm, left.htm, and bottom.htm).
I got the following message when I tried to publish the changed pages:
Server error: write error on file ".bottom.htm.tmp".
Then I right-clicked on just the homepage (index.htm) and tried to "Publish
selected file(s)" and got the following error message:
Server error: write error on file ".index.htm.tmp".
I've done "Detect and Repair" but it doesn't fix the problem.
Any help would be VERY appreciated!!!
Thanks.

Check how much space you have used in your hosting package. This
error is an indication that you have insufficient for publishing
(which requires extra space over the size of the file being
published).

Wow, that never would have occurred to me! I'll check and see whether that's
the problem. Thanks a lot!

The question is, how can I publish the changes successfully when the error
messages stop the publishing process?
Thanks.

Thanks SO much - you nailed it! I deleted a bunch of files off the server and
now I'm able to publish. I REALLY appreciate your help!

Thank you to everyone that helped, it is fixed. I finally got help from Time
Warner help line. They couldn't figure out what was broken. We checked
space and privileges. It was up to finding a messed up file when I just
decided to delete the original published web site and just reload. The
reload worked just fine. I still think they did something to break it but it
is fixed now.
Thanks again, I couldn't have fixed it without your knowledge and help,
Momscout
