Yahoo POP3 Mail with Outlook

I use the "pay" Yahoo mail for POP3 access with Outlook and everything
works fine.
BUT... I notice when using a Sniffer program to monitor traffic on my
home network, that the password and username are sent in clear text to
Yahoo for login from Outlook. While this is no big deal at home, many
times I'm in a cafe or other hotspot location, and I don't want the
info sent as clear text.
Yahoo has a "secure" login that I now use from their web page so that
the login info is encrypted when sent outside my home network. But
what would be ideal is if I could access Yahoo's secured login
automatically through Outlook so the info's encrypted when I'm in a
hotspot location.
I realize the messages themselves won't be encrypted - just concerned
about the login info. Anyone know how to accomplish this? Thanks...

You're "smarter than the average bear", as the saying goes. I occasionally
run a sniffer in such places, and it's shocking to see the information that
people send in the clear, the M$ shares they freely offer r/w, and more
sensitive info than one could shake a stick at, if they would allow a stick
to be shaken in those places

That's HTML over SSL on port 143. You want POP3 over SSL (pop3s), which is
normally offered on port 995.

Sure the messages will be encrypted; the entire session is.
Tools -> Accounts -> Mail [select] -> Properties -> Advanced tab
Incoming Mail (POP3): 995
checkbox "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)"
Hopefully that will solve your need, if they indeed offer pop3s, which is
almost certain.

Yahoo!? Doesn't appear to listen on port 995.
