Procedure for proposing kernel enhancements

Hi,
I'm relatively new to Linux maillists and proceedngs although not so
kernel development. I'm wondering what is a procedure for proposing
kernel enhancements in Linux. There are several that we're using at
Motorola (some are CGL related) and we would like see if such enhancements may be
considered for kernel inclusion.

1. Read the procedure at Documentation/SubmittingPatches and probably
Documentation/CodingStyle at the root source of kernel. Send it to
Linus, don't use attachement.

2. Wait and hope that Linus will agree with your patch, or if your patch
took so long, just begin the discussion on lkml about your changes.
