FWD: Handles Leak HELP!!! :-)
am 23.08.2002 14:02:42 von Richard MortonHi,
I am having difficulty with MySQL, and I have now been informed that it is =
likely to be caused by MyODBC...
Can anybody please comment on this. I am looking for a swift resolution to this =
issue. If this is to do with MyODBC can you comment when a fix will be issued.
I have an application consuming 300 000 in a day, along with the memory to =
track the handles. (see emails below)
Once I have this information I can make a judgement on purchasing a Support =
Agreement. I have contacted Kerry Ancheta already, but I have not been told if =
"MySQL" thinks it is a problem with "MySQL"'s code...
Please help...
Thanks
Richard

RE: RE: re[2]: Support Contracts
Hi Richard,
The problem that you are having with MySQL's odbc drivers is caused by an =
un-thread-safe implementation of the driver that causes a memory leak. =
(Recreatable outside of Envox easily)
This problem is in no way related to Envox support (nor development) so, please =
do not send us these email correspondence and await reply.
We have been investigting this issue and have come to the conclusion that the =
source of error is in MySQL code which is out of our control.
Please don't CC us in this email correspondence.
Thanks and regards,
Jens Collin

Subject: FWD: re[2]: Support Contracts
Hi,
I have not had a reply to this email.
Briefly, my questions are:
1. I am looking to purchase a support agreement so as to rectify a problem I=20
have discovered with MySQL, a handles leak. I have been told it is a problem=20
with MySQL by Envox ( www.envox.com ), however I have not had confirmation of=20
this by MySQL. Can you confirm that it is a MySQL issue?
2. Can you confirm that version 4.1 will rectify this fault.
3. Can you indicate roughly which quarter version 4.1 will be released
4 a Can you confirm that you would fix the issue if I purchase a support=20
contract? Possibly under the heading in your support information called "Custom =
Binaries"
4 b. What will the support agreement cost?
I wait eagerly for a reply.
Thanks in advance
Richard

RE: re[2]: Support Contracts
Kerry,
Apologies for emailing Monty, this was cause I have the wrong email address=20
attached to the MySQL file. Oops. and apologies again.
That is great news about the possibility of fixing the handles leak, however... =
I will need to know that you will fix the problem if I purchase support. I=20
cannot, at this time, justify purchasing a support contract, unless a form of=20
assurance is provided that you will resolve the issue.
The issue is to do with MySQL and I am using Envox 4.0.07 through MyODBC3.51.03
running Win2kPro SP2
Also connected is the JDBC driver (the older version, not connector/J) and we=20
are running Tomcat.
The app is a product, and we are in the final phases of debugging, this is the=20
last major bug to be fixed. If we cannot receive assurances/commitment of=20
resolution, then we will have to deploy on M$....
We are going to purchase licenses for MySQL and supply them with each product=20
shipped.
Does the JDBC driver license come at "no extra charge" when purchasing MySQL=20
licenses? is this what your "license email" was indicating?
Thanks for your reply, and I look forward to any help/info you can provide.
Richard
