./configure options for compiling

I'm runnning Cygwin_NT-5.1 under winXP service pack 2. Can anyone
recommend some optimized ./configure settings I can use to build Mysql
Ver 14.7, Distrib 4.1.14?

I've built it with the defaults already but I managed to core dump
../mysql_client_test.exe on one of the tests so I'm not so sure I have an
optimum setup. Can someone also point me to the docs that describe any
included mysql test programs?
