Updateable Views in 5.0.15

I'm getting an error when trying to update a view in 5.0.15.

SELECT command denied to user 'root@localhost' for column 'requestid' in =
table 'workforceplan_request'

Root has full access to all tables in the database.... why would this =
error come up when trying to update that table through the view?
