I'm developing an application to caracterize workloads for the supercomputers
here and have worked on a resource management usage reporting system using
Oracle 9i with DBD::Oracle on a Solaris platform. I've recently obtained and
installed Oracle 10.2 XE on my workstation to be able to do development work
on it and am trying to get DBD::Oracle installed. I've worked in computers
(hardware maintenance, operations, programming) for over 30 years.

Perhaps he is just curious about getting DBD::Oracle working with XE? I
know I am. :)

Chuck,

Does XE not include the Pro*C components, or an "instant client" like

I don't think it does ... I took a look a the files in the RPM and it
only included one make file (oracle_oe.mk IIRC). I also didn't see
many .lib files

Well, in order to compile DBD::Oracle, one needs to install either the
Oracle client or the instant client. The README* files here
http://search.cpan.org/~timb/DBD-Oracle-1.16/ might help.

Do you have the program proc and/or oracle.mk somewhere under
$ORACLE_HOME?

I don't know - how would I find out? What should I be looking for?

Neither. The referenced README* files only seem to be up to date to
Oracle 7.3 so my original questions still stand: Is DBD::Oracle going
to be updated to XE and if so, when? Thanks.
